OmniCloset
Last updated: 15 September 2026
OmniCloset is a personal wardrobe app: a private digital closet, an AI stylist, and (optionally) a way to share looks with friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it. We keep it short and specific to what the app actually does.
We do not collect payment information, we do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do use privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog) and crash reporting (Sentry) to understand how the app is used and to catch bugs, as described below.
We use your data to operate the app: to store and display your wardrobe, generate AI outfit suggestions, show your history, and (if you opt in) let approved friends see your closet. We do not sell your personal data.
If you grant location permission, your device's precise latitude and longitude are used to fetch current weather and your city name. They are precise rather than rounded: we send about four decimal places. The coordinates are sent to weather and reverse-geocoding services (Open-Meteo and BigDataCloud) at the moment you use the feature and are not stored in our database. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the app still works without it.
You can film your closet instead of photographing each piece. If you do, the video is uploaded and sent to Google's Gemini AI, which picks out the individual garments in it.
That includes the sound. The app asks for the microphone because filming is more useful when you say the brand and size out loud instead of typing them, so the audio track goes with the video and Gemini transcribes what you said in order to read those details off it. We keep the details it produces and the transcript with the temporary import job so you can review the result. The transcript is deleted when that import job is deleted. We do not record audio anywhere else in the app.
The video itself is stored in a private bucket while it is being processed and is not part of your wardrobe once the pieces have been pulled out of it.
None of the processing in this section happens until you agree to it. Before anything is sent, we show you what will be shared, which AI provider will receive it, and why. You can decline and continue using the non-AI parts of OmniCloset.
Clothing photos. To recognise a piece and fill in details such as its category, colour and material, its photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI, or to Anthropic's Claude if Gemini is unavailable. Gemini is also used for optional image clean-up, enhancement and flat-lay generation.
Stylist, Shopper and travel planning. We send your closet as text, your style profile, the relevant conversation, shopping questions and trip details to Anthropic's Claude, or to Google's Gemini for the lower-cost styling tier. This lets those features suggest outfits, pieces and packing plans. These text-based chats do not send your clothing photographs unless the particular feature asks you to choose a photo.
Generated trip inspiration. When you choose this optional feature, we send a short search query made from the destination, dates, trip type, activities and likely weather to Serper, which returns Google Shopping results. Gemini chooses coherent combinations from the returned product details, and the app lays out the matching catalogue images as complete looks. We do not send those images or your wardrobe photographs to Gemini for this deck.
Photos of you. When you ask for a Fit Check, the outfit photograph you choose is sent to Anthropic's Claude, because judging the fit means looking at it. If you turn on virtual try-on, the full-length photograph you choose is sent to Google's Gemini so it can render how a look would sit on you.
Closet videos and receipts.A closet walkthrough video, including its audio track if you narrate it, is sent to Google's Gemini to identify the garments and transcribe details such as brand and size. The garment observations and the details you narrate are saved separately as notes on the pieces you keep. A store receipt photo or purchase details you choose to import may also be sent to Gemini so it can read the purchased pieces and place them in the right closet categories.
You can turn AI processing off at any time from Profile → Edit profile → AI features. This prevents new AI requests and stops OmniCloset from continuing queued AI work. It cannot recall a request an AI provider has already received. The rest of the app remains available without AI processing.
We rely on a small set of service providers who process data on our behalf to run the app:
Retailer order imports (Zara, Myntra, H&M, Ajio, Nykaa Fashion, Westside) run from your own logged-in session on those sites, at your request; we only receive the receipt, order and product details you choose to import. We do not receive your retailer login or payment-card details. If an import uses Gemini to read or categorise that information, it only does so after you have agreed to AI processing as described above.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Danger zone → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your profile, your entire wardrobe and outfits, your history, friend connections, and your uploaded photos, and deletes your login. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
We do not use what you share to train an OmniCloset model. Once a request has been sent to Anthropic or Google, their handling and retention of it are governed by the applicable provider terms and the service configuration used by OmniCloset. Turning off AI processing or deleting your account does not retrieve requests a provider has already received or immediately erase them from its operational records.
Your data is stored with our hosting and database providers using industry-standard protections.
Your photographs are private to your account. They are held in storage that will not serve them to an anonymous request, and every read is checked against the account that owns them. The app fetches them through short-lived links issued to you; someone who is not signed in, or who is signed in as someone else, gets nothing. An earlier version of this policy described photo storage as restricted to the app when in fact the files were readable by anyone holding the link, and that has been corrected in the product as well as here.
No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
OmniCloset is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the “Last updated” date above when we do, and significant changes will be communicated in the app.
